Navigating life's journey to fulfil your potential
My Background and Story
The pathway trodden to becoming a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist involved personal tragedy, my own experience of mental health, and trying to juggle a career within the highly pressurised role of investment banking with demands of my family. This has created a unique insight into the numerous issues and the resulting negative impact they can have in one’s personal and professional life.
As a young child I suffered a traumatic event which provided first hand experience of the scars we can carry through our lives and the negative implications they carry.
Prior to qualifying as a psychotherapist I had worked for over 20 years as a front line trader in investment banking. Within that role, I regularly hit high financial targets and often worked long unsociable hours, whilst trying to spend quality time with my family. Eventually, like Icarus I flew too close to the sun and came crashing down to earth when all the issues I either ignored or wasn't conscious of overwhelmed me.
I had an amazing wife, 3 beautiful children, a home that was more than I ever dreamed of and a successful career, yet I was miserable and became withdrawn. My personal and professional life became negatively impacted.
What felt like a mid-life crisis at the time, I now look back at and view as my "mid-life awakening”.
Once I eventually realised I couldn't solve this on my own, I discovered both awareness and solutions through counselling and psychotherapy. Having dealt with the presenting issues, I began to use my therapy in a more proactive way which helped me continue reaching my professional goals, and also enabled me to enjoy my family once again.
The passion and meaning I discovered within my therapy fuelled me to embark on qualifying as a counsellor and psychotherapist. Having left the world of financial markets I want to share this passion with you.
By drawing on all my personal and professional experiences I offer a confidential service full of empathy that helps resolve your difficulties from the first contact.
Coming from a world of finance I understand investment and have often been asked "what's good to invest in?"
My answer is simple. Invest time in yourself. When you are ready to talk, I’m ready to listen.
Looking forward to meeting you.
